Gianyar district is well known as the center of arts in Bali and has its own arts center. This regency is well known for its dancing and tabuh (a group of Balinese who play traditional music instruments).

In the northern part of Gianyar (Ubud regency and Tegalalang) people are well known for their artistic skills such as sculpting and paintings.

The north-eastern part of Gianyar, including Payangan district, has fresh air and cool weather at night. Gianyar district also has some ancient and historical places such as Gunung Kawi and Goa Gajah, which were built during the IX century.
